Brittany Nicols, InnovateMR
With nearly 20 years of experience in the research industry, Brittany Nicols has become a driving force in both innovation and empowerment. Currently serving as Senior Vice President of Marketing & Communications at InnovateMR, Brittany brings a unique dual perspective as both a buyer and provider of research. We sat down with Brittany to discuss strategic leadership, collaboration, and more!
Brittany’s journey through the insights industry is as dynamic as it is inspiring. She has led initiatives across sales operations, sample management, survey design, and product innovation. Today, at InnovateMR — a full-service sampling and ResTech company — she drives global marketing strategy, maintains brand integrity, and fosters long-term client relationships. Her efforts extend beyond traditional marketing, bridging internal teams and fueling a culture of continuous learning through programs like InnovateMR University, which she created to support onboarding, training, and career development across departments.
To Brittany, leadership is about more than authority — it’s about service, empathy, and vision. She believes in creating environments where individuals feel safe to contribute, grow, and take ownership of their success. “There’s nothing better than seeing a team member grow into their role, find their voice, and take on challenges they never thought they could,” she says.
Her perspective is deeply influenced by her experience as both a woman and a woman in the research space. From navigating challenges in a male-dominated industry to balancing the demands of motherhood (raising two toddlers and two school-aged children!) Brittany shares that, “…being a mother has given me an even deeper perspective... I lead with compassion and efficiency because I have to — but also with intention, knowing my children are watching how I navigate the world.”
One of Brittany’s most exciting current initiatives at InnovateMR + Ivy Exec involves elevating internal voices. “Every individual brings a unique perspective,” she says. “We’re intentionally creating more opportunities to spotlight and celebrate that expertise.” From cross-functional collaboration to speaking opportunities and thought leadership, Brittany is helping ensure that the company’s internal talent is both empowered and visible — a strategy that enhances the quality and depth of service Innovate’s clients receive.
Brittany credits much of her growth to Lisa Wilding-Brown, InnovateMR’s CEO, who has served as her mentor and role model. “Lisa is the embodiment of empathetic leadership,” Brittany shares. “She believed in me even when I doubted myself, and that kind of support is rare and transformative.” Lisa’s example has helped Brittany cultivate a leadership style rooted in integrity, resilience, and a people-first mindset.
When asked about advice for other women pursuing leadership roles, Brittany’s response is bold and encouraging: “Don’t wait until you feel 100% ready — go for it. Growth happens in the stretch zones.” She emphasizes the value of mentorship, personal networks, and defining success on your own terms. “You can lead with grace, with empathy, and with quiet strength. Your ability to connect, to listen deeply, and to lead with authenticity is your superpower.”
Brittany and InnovateMR have long supported WIRe’s mission of empowering women in research. From event participation to mentorship and advocacy, WIRe’s community has been a cornerstone in her journey. “WIRe provides an unmatched space for learning, mentorship, and community building. Whether you're just starting out or you're a seasoned professional, it helps you thrive — personally and professionally.”
If there’s one thing Brittany wants the WIRe community to know, it’s that InnovateMR + Ivy Exec are committed not only to exceptional research but to real-world impact. “We walk the walk when it comes to innovation, integrity, and inclusion,” she says. “And on a personal note, I’m always happy to connect — whether you need advice, support, or just someone to talk to. Our strength lies in collaboration.”
