Leveraging the Power of Women with Catherine Fox
Wednesday, 14th November, 6-8 PM
The Sporting Globe Bar
Is it a moment or a movement? A year on from #MeToo bursting onto the global stage, women’s rights have never been more topical but are we making real progress? In this timely conversation with author and journalist, Catherine Fox challenges workplaces to take a different direction in addressing inequity by tackling biased rules and leveraging the power of women’s networking and support for each other.
A regular commentator on women and work, Fox has written five books, including Stop Fixing Women, which won the 2017 Walkley Award for Women’s Leadership in Media. And her latest Women Kind (with Kirstin Ferguson)—published last month—examines the wave of female solidarity that is rebooting the women’s movement.
After a long career at The Australian Financial Review, where she was deputy editor of Boss magazine and Corporate Woman columnist, Catherine started her freelance business in 2012. She was co-founder of the annual Financial Review 100 Women of Influence Awards, the Sydney Women’s Giving Circle and sits on a number of boards.

Best Life Design
Do you fundamentally believe that you shouldn’t feel as though you have to choose between your career and your family? That it should be possible to build a more purposeful life plan that enables you to achieve success in both aspects of life? If that’s the case, that belief is all you need to get started. A natural curiosity to explore your life choices and an openness to apply some thinking to how you show up in life – based on the experiences of others in the same shoes – are the keys to developing your own Best Life Design. Join us for a workshop led by author, Gill McLaren, who will talk about her own corporate leadership journey. She will share how she embarked on a mission to take strategic and business planning approaches and apply them to the most important plan you will ever write: your own Life Plan. Agenda: 6-6.30pm Welcome drinks / arrival 6.30-8pm Main Event 8-8:30pm Networking Thank you to Luma, SSI, QRA, Bastion Latitude and Resources Group for sponsoring this event.
